Realizing a Breakthrough Idea

A lot of work goes into developing and refining a breakthrough idea. Due diligence is necessary, but we can’t help but be most excited to see these game-changing ideas impact the quality of life in our community once they’re realized.

The Breakthrough Fund not only helps selected organizations refine an idea, it also may help them realize them. If a Breakthrough Fund applicant is chosen for the Refine Phase, they are eligible to receive funds to bring their idea to life in the Realize Phase.

BIG IDEAS, ESPECIALLY THOSE OF BREAKTHROUGH STATURE, ARE NEW AND EXCITING, AND EVEN RISKY.

BIG IDEAS, ESPECIALLY THOSE OF BREAKTHROUGH STATURE, ARE NEW AND EXCITING, AND EVEN RISKY.

Breakthrough Fund applicants who are chosen for the Refine Phase may use those funds for research, training, retreats, external consulting and more.

Once the Refine Phase of the project is complete, each participant’s report serves as its application for the Realize Phase.

The Realize Phase is what you make of it. As you remember, we’re giving you room to think big and challenging you to think differently.

We’ve earmarked $100,000 toward the Refine Phase and $400,000 toward the Realize Phase, which may support one or several projects. Applications for the Refine Phase are due on May 16, and awards will be announced by August 2018.

A compelling project that addresses a crucial social issue doesn’t happen without risk, failure and support—so here it is. We can’t wait to see what you dream up for Allen County.
